Poetry

The Poetry Club.

St. Kevin’s Poetry Club has been in existence for a number of years now. Children from Fourth to Sixth Class are welcome to join the group in The Computer Room on alternate Tuesdays. We simply provide a forum. The children write to their own themes and ideas. The subject matter can vary from the ridiculous to the sublime!
Recently, it has come to our attention that three former pupils at St. Kevin’s are established writers. David Wheatley is the well-known poet from Bray. In January of this year , Colm Martin from Grattan Park read from ‘Hammond’ his poetry collection for children .Colm was delighted to be welcomed back to St. Kevin’s and was pleased to read for both Fifth Classes. Tommy Mooney from Bray is the editor of The Wexford Echo Newspaper and is the author of ‘with this, or upon this’ a book of poetry in collaboration with the photographer Padraig Grant.
Colm and Tommy were in the same class way back in the mid-seventies.
Who knows how many of our current writers will make their mark with pen in hand?
