St. Kevin’s Goes Green!

Wednesday 19 May was a big day for everyone at St. Kevin’s as we took our first step towards our fourth Green Flag. This is an award from An Taisce given to schools who work towards promoting Greener Travel to and from school.

To launch our first major day of action, pupils were encouraged to walk or cycle to school if possible. Other children came by car but made a special effort to try ‘Car Pooling’ or ‘Park and Stride’, parking a short distance from the school and walking the rest of the way. A huge effort was made on the day and many families stepped up to the challenge!

Currently 58% of our pupils come by car and we are trying to encourage families to reduce the number of cars being used each morning and afternoon. Over the next 6 weeks, each class will be surveyed to check on our progress!
